Great car. I've had the same Punto, with 3 doors. Too bad my Punto was trashed in a collision (which wasn't my fault) :(Now i have a Punto 1.2 16 80hp :D.

@215alessio That's problem with your engine, but not all that engines. Mine has now about 75hp (after some mods) and 154 000 km without ANY problem. Seriously.I have seen punto with ~430 000km but the body started to rost, while the engine condition was good.

@STax9 there are 2 types japanese cars those high rpm cars have variable valves openingand normal toyota's have low rpm ranges but: Japanese are Japanesethey are masters and perfectionnist in metallurgyI don't think this fiat engine can go to 400 000 km since mine is already leaking oil at 65 000 Km and the carter has already some overpressure (pressure loss between piston rings)Open your engine oil fill tap and you feel the overpressure coming outside

@215alessio you are mixing many topics here...First - short gears come from low engine power. BUT german, french and other engines with SIMILAR ccm (1.0-1.2 liter) also have short gears. With longer gears such engines just won't be able to drive fast due to lack of power.Second - at 5. gear I have ~4000rpm@120kph ;)Third - engine speed is not the speed of it wear. Just look at japeneese engines - the use high rpm, but although are very durable.

@STax9 hey, I have droven German cars, I know the stuff they are made of. I am Italian and I would support the italian things BUT... a German car is better balanced better engeneered.How can you defend the fact that at 120 you have already 4500 RPM ?? to me it is bad engeneering..It will burn more fuel it will wear alot faster and it is a very unpleasant noise resonating in the whole cabine. The whole problem could have been resolved with an economy gear

@215alessio it won't wear duble times faster. It depend's not only of the rpm, but also the construction at all. I have seen many fiat 1.1 engines with 300-400.000 km without main repair.

@STax9 an engine that runs 120km/h at 5000 rpm weard double as fast as an engine that runs 120km/h at 2800 rpm this issue escaped at ingegner' canellone when he designed the gearbox154 000 km is just a warm up for a volkswagen (up to 400 000 km and more)anyway I have to find a way to make the 5th gear a bit longer (economy gear)

@215alessio Engine do not wears faster, you can belive me. Mine has at this moment 154000km and at the dyno it get about 70HP.

@215alessio about 30kmh 1000g/min 30-1000 60-2000 90-3000 120-4000 150-5000
