@daviddang82 Some manufacturers - like Honda - are conservative with their ratings. Better to under-promise and over-deliver ... this leads to happier customers over the long run. Some manufacturers are aggressive with their ratings and have been catching flack for that.The manufacturers present the numbers to the EPA. It's up to the EPA to accept the numbers or make adjustments. I kinda doubt that the EPA would want to raise the numbers on anything ... =)

@mpgomatic I get that, but what I don't get is that when Honda put out their estimated MPG, wouldn't they use the same method to try to increase their estimates? If you were able to do 44 mpg, I think they could have done better as well. Unless there is a separate process to determine those numbers. Do you know?

@daviddang82 Hondas tend to respond well to light-footed driving techniques. Minimize pressure on the accelerator pedal, maximize inertia ...

@kosokuadam If you did Buy the Elantra, you just made a bad choice, Your Korean Car has the worst re-sale Value...why? Because it is a Hunday and they suck, I'm a shop mngr and My Mechanic's Laugh at Hundays, Kia's and Ford Focuses, Be wise and Buy a Honda

Honda's Automatic have never been that good for longevety, I rather have an Manual with out any Electronic Computers that need to be replaces down the road. Don't buy Hunday/Kia/Ford Crap If you want the best car, it can only be a Honda. Honda Engineering is the best I have seen and parts are so much easier to come by than some Elantra. If I break down anywhere in the US, I know I can get Honda parts same day! 15y Mechanic talking.
